When Superintendent Dr. Shawn K. Wightman decided the Marysville School District needed a new approach to literacy education, he reviewed options for a research-proven, blended learning solution for grades preK–5 which would systematically build early literacy skills for all students, regardless of their current abilities, and accelerate learning for students not working in grade-level material.
After investigating the options, Superintendent Wightman chose Lexia Core5 Reading. Core5 gave the district the flexibility to implement a personalized approach to literacy with Core5 in ways that work best for specific students. Core5 was implemented in the three elementary schools in the district, Gardens Elementary, Morton Elementary, and Washington Elementary.
The results did not disappoint. All three elementary schools showed improvement, but one stood out above the other two.
Most notably, Gardens Elementary skyrocketed from the 82nd percentile to the 95th percentile, placing the school in the top 5% of Michigan schools.
