Following the pandemic, students' reading levels are more varied than ever due to interrupted learning. There has been a heightened call for more equitable access to science of reading-based literacy instruction that can meet the range of needs of today’s academically and linguistically diverse classrooms. Lexia’s solutions can help.
The Challenge
Meeting Every Student Where They Are
It is difficult to differentiate instruction to meet the wide range of abilities in a classroom. The need has become even more urgent with many students coming back to class at different skill levels after interrupted learning. Lexia’s science of reading solutions put the educator at the center of learning, creating personalized learning paths that guide differentiated instruction, minimize preparation time, and maximize instructional time with students.
Your Differentiated Instruction Solution
Unlike other literacy and language programs that start and progress students at the same pace, Lexia® allows students to progress based on their performance in the online program. Lexia’s blended learning programs combine teacher-led resources with technology-driven independent learning that personalizes instruction for every student. All of Lexia’s products provide an adaptive learning model, embedded assessment technology, and personalized action plans and resources that enable teachers to deliver differentiated instruction tailored to each student’s needs.
Educators need data-driven insight that pinpoints the specific skills students need support with and provides easily accessible resources to differentiate instruction.
Actionable Data Drives Differentiation
As students work independently in the online activities, real-time performance data is collected through Lexia’s patented embedded assessment tool, Assessment Without Testing® (AWT). This provides personalized prescriptions of intensity (i.e., usage recommendations) for every student based on their individual needs, not on a blanket recommendation for every student. AWT also helps with classroom planning, providing direct, teacher-led instruction and activities for small-group, face-to-face, or independent student practice. With AWT, assessment is less disruptive, more personalized, and less labor intensive, saving teachers up to a month of instruction time since they do not have to stop instruction to administer a test.
Dynamically Differentiating Instruction
Lexia’s programs determine personalized paths for each student and dynamically adjust instruction based on where they are in the program. Our adaptive blended learning model allows students to move at their own pace motivated by their own success and promotes student agency and a growth mindset. If a student has difficulty mastering a specific skill, our programs provide scaffolded support and guided practice or, if necessary, alert the teacher that the student needs direct instruction. Real-time data allows teachers to understand how to differentiate instruction for each student and focus their attention on delivering just the right instruction at just the right time.
