The Big Picture: Building a Comprehensive Literacy Plan

Educators at Friendship Public Charter School (FPCS) in Washington D.C., began their journey into the science of reading by developing a comprehensive literacy plan that included:

• Training for a science of reading culture
• Developing instructional strategies
• Creating successful partnerships
• Addressing potential challenges
