[Testimonial] ‘Lexia Core5 Fit the Bill’
In Louisiana’s Lafayette Parish School System, Catherine Guillory, Elementary ELA, Library Science (K–5) specialist knew how important science of reading-based instruction was. Even before the state mandated that teachers be trained in early literacy, she had her teachers participate in Lexia® LETRS® Professional Learning.
But even with the growth they saw, Guillory knew they could do more. She turned to Lexia® Core5® Reading to help the district’s LETRS-trained teachers make an even bigger impact.
“The kids needed something more than what we had going,” Guillory says. “Lexia Core5 fit the bill. It’s directly aligned to the science of reading. It was aligned to our core curriculum. It was aligned to our needs, and we love it.”
Built on the science of reading, Core5 follows an Adaptive Blended Learning model that offers explicit, systematic, and personalized reading instruction, allowing educators to differentiate instruction for pre-K–5 students.
With the science of reading knowledge they acquired in LETRS, Lafayette Parish’s educators found Core5 to be just what they needed to advance students’ literacy skills. Plus, it is helping them close in on their goal of having 95% of students read on or above grade level.
“The kids are feeling that success, and they know why they’re successful,” Guillory says. “We’re getting closer every year and that’s because of Lexia. We love it.”
