[Testimonial] ‘LETRS Changed My Life’

Unlocking not just an understanding of the science of reading, but how to apply it in the classroom, transforms an educator's ability to improve students’ outcomes. 

“[Lexia®] LETRS® changed my life,” says Misty Eidson, director of elementary curriculum and instruction at Oklahoma’s Mustang Public Schools. “I learned more in LETRS than I did in my undergrad or graduate program. I became passionate about helping our teachers receive that instruction as well. ”

To do this, she went on to work as a state LETRS facilitator to share that knowledge.
“In my undergrad program as well as my master’s program, I didn’t learn a lot about how to teach kids how to read,” she says. “So, when I came back, the science of reading was just kind of starting, and I was hungry for knowledge and understanding the reading brain and what goes on and what needs to happen in a daily reading lesson in order to help our kids become proficient readers.”

In 2020, Mustang Public Schools leaders adopted Lexia® Core5® Reading with a focus on improving literacy skills for students of all abilities. Adding in LETRS professional learning helps her teachers “understand the why behind Lexia®.”

“I am confident Lexia will help accelerate our literacy goals,” Eidson says.
