Lexia English Supports ELPAC Success: Results in a Southern California School District

California enrolls many newcomer students and has one of the highest Emergent Bilingual populations in the country. To increase student performance on state measures like the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC), leaders are looking for effective and evidence-supported solutions that will provide the speaking and listening skills students need. 

One southern California district utilized Lexia English Language Development™ and saw a rise in ELPAC scores alongside student program progress.

Leaders in this southern California district wanted a program that could meet the needs of all of its English Learner (EL) students. During the course of the 2022–2023 school year, they discovered using Lexia English with fidelity prepared students for academic success and significant gains in ELPAC placement.

In a Lexia English study, (679 students across grades K-6), 63% of students at the Expanding level and 85% at the Bridging level passed the ELPAC with placement at level 3 or 4.
