Washington State Progress Report School Year 2023–2024
During the 2023–2024 school year, Lexia® provided critical literacy and language support to 579 schools and more than 109,000 students across Washington. Using Lexia® Core5® Reading, Lexia® PowerUp Literacy®, and Lexia English Language Development™, educators saw significant improvements in student outcomes.
Core5’s research-backed, systematic instruction helped elementary students build foundational reading skills while also advancing more proficient readers to meet grade-level benchmarks. Teachers appreciated the program’s real-time data analytics, which enabled them to provide personalized, targeted instruction and celebrate student progress.
PowerUp offered targeted interventions for middle school students, addressing gaps in word study, grammar, and comprehension. This personalized approach empowered students to cover multiple grade levels of skills within a single year.
In Washington, educators are especially focused on Emergent Bilingual students to ensure they maintain continuity of learning. Lexia English supported those students by focusing on language proficiency and promoting academic conversations, helping students move up to the next standards proficiency band.
With all three programs rooted in the science of reading, educators were able to save instructional time while ensuring their students received the individualized support they needed. Washington teachers and administrators are eager to build on this success. Read the full Progress Report and learn how Lexia® is shaping literacy instruction in the state.
