Lexia® English CA ELD Standards Progress Report
Lexia English Language Development™ for grades K–6, is an Adaptive Blended Learning speaking and listening program that supports students' English language development through academic conversations. It is designed to help Emergent Bilingual students, also known as ELLs, acquire higher language proficiency levels of English. It integrates three key areas: Speaking, Listening, and Grammar, while emphasizing the language of content in Math, Science, Social Studies, General Knowledge, and Biographies, so that students gain both language skills and subject knowledge.
As the number of Emergent Bilingual students continues to increase nationwide, educators and district administrators need smarter ways to ensure better academic outcomes for every learner. This means providing both teachers and Emergent Bilingual learners with the tools they need for success.
This state-of-the-art English language learning solution was created to help Emergent Bilingual students reach their academic potential and is designed from an asset-based orientation. The program incorporates culturally responsive pedagogies that support individualized learning paths for each learner. Lexia English creates an environment that includes and values all students and equips educators with simple, actionable data and reports to ensure academic success and better learning outcomes for all.
During the 2023–2024 instructional year, Lexia English supported the diverse learning needs of 43,643 students in 1,557 schools using the CA ELD language proficiency standards. Approximately two in five students using Lexia English as recommended moved up to the next CA ELD proficiency band within the program. Additionally, 43% of Newcomers also moved up a proficiency band.
