While conversations around reading often focus on supporting elementary students, we can’t let older students slip through the cracks. Lexia® PowerUp Literacy® is research-proven to help adolescent students become college and career ready. Designed for grades 6–12, PowerUp accelerates progress for students several grade levels behind with results that far exceed traditional interventions. PowerUp respects adolescent learners with engaging, high-interest texts and personalized pathways, ensuring motivation stays high as progress accelerates.

During the 2023–2024 school year, nearly 1 million students across 10,278 schools used PowerUp, achieving remarkable outcomes. When students used the program with fidelity:

• 51% of students covered three grade levels of skills in just one year. That means they  advanced one or more zones across all three instructional strands—Word Study, Grammar, and Reading Comprehension.
• 83% moved up two or more skill zones, with the percentage of students working on foundational K–2 skills dropping below 5% in each strand by year end.

Students who used PowerUp consistently made extraordinary progress, with 42% advancing to higher-level skills across the board—preparing them for college and careers—a significant increase from just 1% at the start of the year. 

On average, students who used the program with fidelity completed 72 instructional activities and 11 embedded Skill Checks, demonstrating their mastery of dozens of new literacy skills in just one year.
