Lexia PowerUp Literacy Canada Annual Report
Nearly 30,000 Canadian students in grades 6–12 used Lexia® PowerUp Literacy® with fidelity during the 2023-2024 school year at 2,100 schools, and they saw tremendous skill growth.
While many began the year working at a K–2 content level, that number dropped below 4% by the end of the school year.
Students saw content knowledge gains throughout the three strands of the program—Word Study, Grammar, and Comprehension—and across the school year, the percentage of students working on advanced skills in all strands grew from 1% to 56%.
Here’s how PowerUp also led to student success in Canada:
- 12,684 Lexia Lessons® were delivered
- 23,667 Lexia Skill Builders® were delivered
- On average, students completed 73 skills
- Student use averaged 75 minutes per week working in PowerUp strands
- On average, students completed 12 Skills Checks
With such incredible student success, teachers had a lot to say about PowerUp:
- 90% say PowerUp is easy to use
- 77% say PowerUp helps them more efficiently provide targeted instruction
“PowerUp meets a diverse range of students’ needs, even those still needing phonics and decoding instruction, while presenting it in a more mature way that older students can enjoy,” one teacher said.
