Lexia’s Implementation Services Help Drive Academic Gains
PURPOSE: For many school leaders, fidelity of implementation can impact the academic gains their students achieve using edtech programs. This study considered the benefits of Lexia’s Implementation Services Plan (ISP) to support implementation in schools using Lexia® Core5® Reading.
METHOD: During the 2015–2016 school year, Lexia® Research analyzed the implementation fidelity of nearly 1,400 schools that had a site license to use Core5. Approximately one-third of the schools had purchased an ISP. We examined the extent to which students in schools with an ISP achieved implementation fidelity and the extent to which these students were likely to reach their end-of-year, grade-level benchmarks in Core5. Comparisons were made with schools that did not have an ISP.
KEY FINDINGS
- Schools with an ISP achieved implementation fidelity with half of their students, compared to 39% of students in schools that did not have an ISP.
- Students who use Core5 with fidelity were five times more likely to reach their end-of-year, grade-level benchmarks in the program compared to students using Core5 a minimal amount.
