Imagine the Possibilities: 3 District Examples to Level Up Literacy
Explore how districts nationwide have transformed literacy through evidence-based approaches with Lexia® programs. Each story highlights the importance of professional learning, targeted instruction, and curriculum support, offering a framework for improving student performance and driving systemic change.
In Oklahoma, Enid Public Schools used Lexia® LETRS® to enhance teacher expertise in the science of reading, resulting in 73% of third grade students in Enid Public Schools demonstrating proficiency in reading compared to only 48% statewide.
Lexia® Core5® Reading helped propel Meridian, Mississippi, students at Northeast Elementary School to success. Before Core5, only 15% of students were working at or above grade level. After one full academic year with Core5, that number jumped to 91%.
In Caroline County, Maryland, district leaders took a two-pronged approach to tackle adolescent literacy acceleration. First, the district provided a cohort of middle school ELA and special education teachers with Lexia Aspire® Professional Learning—a flexible, self-paced professional learning tool designed to help teachers of older students learn how to provide effective literacy instruction. Additionally, the district deployed Lexia® PowerUp Literacy®, a classroom resource that offers supplemental literacy acceleration support directly to students.
