Educators at Enrico Tonti Elementary School have been using Lexia® for 10 years, including Lexia® Core5® Reading for grades K–5, and the school has become a Level 1+ school, one of the highest rankings for Chicago Public Schools’ rating system. That system is changing and Chicago is now implementing a new one, but this is where the school left off.
Tonti educators were impressed with how flexible the overall program truly is. Teachers decide how they want to break the learning down and implement it within their reading blocks. Some teachers assign Core5 for homework and others build it right into their classroom time. Other teachers set up different stations or centers throughout their classrooms and have students rotate through the literacy platform that way
Finally, teachers particularly love the real-time data they get from Lexia. In fact, Lexia data shows that 80% of Tonti’s Core5 students who started the 2021–2022 SY working below grade level advanced at least one grade level of material.
