Select High-Quality Instructional Materials for K–12 Students
Beginning in the 2024–2025 school year, Ohio districts must use High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) in English Language Arts from the lists provided by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW). Department leaders have approved Lexia’s science of reading-based solutions—Lexia® Core5® Reading and Lexia® PowerUp Literacy®—for evidence-based reading intervention and core foundational skills/supplemental programs. Learn more at the ODEW FAQ page.
Both Core5 and PowerUp believe in:
The power of the science of reading
Equity for all students can be achieved through literacy
Teacher knowledge and proven instructional resources are keys to success
Data-driven reading instruction is critical to meeting student needs and effectiveness.
Lexia Core5 Reading
Approved Supplemental and Intervention Program for Grades K–2
Lexia Core5 Reading follows an Adaptive Blended Learning model that offers explicit, systematic, and personalized reading instruction. Core5 is evaluated by using rigorous scientific methods and has been found effective with a variety of populations to help close the literacy gap in as little as 10 weeks.
Lexia PowerUp Literacy is designed to maximize student learning through a truly personalized experience that addresses individual skill gaps and impacts reading proficiency and academic success. PowerUp’s time-efficient instructional model enables students to make multiple years of growth in a single academic year.
Take the guesswork out of selecting the right instruction for Ohio’s students. Both Core5 and PowerUp have received a “Strong” rating from Evidence for ESSA. Evidence for ESSA also estimates these programs have a greater impact on student reading than most other literacy programs on the market.
