Shayne Piasta is a professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at The Ohio State University and a faculty fellow at the Crane Center for Early Childhood Research and Policy. She received her doctorate in developmental psychology from Florida State University where she was an Institute of Educational Sciences Predoctoral Interdisciplinary Research Training fellow at the Florida Center for Reading Research. Her research focuses on early and emergent literacy skill development and empirical validation of educational practices. Specific areas of expertise include young children’s acquisition of alphabet knowledge and efficacy of professional development and early literacy curricula/interventions.
