Ernesto Saldivar, Jr. is the Director of Language Acquisition and Literacy for Proviso Township High School District #209 in Forest Park, Illinois. He believes that all students are entitled to equitable learning experiences - experiences that facilitate building the linguistic, cultural, and social capital of students to counteract the challenges of injustice.
Ernesto began his career as a high school English teacher and has served in the capacity of teacher leader, assistant principal and principal in Chicago Public Schools throughout his tenure.
As a first generation, bilingual, bicultural Latino, Ernesto earned a Bachelors in English from the University of Illinois Chicago, a Masters in Latin American and Caribbean Studies and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Northeastern Illinois University. Mr. Saldivar is also a proud alum of the Surge Fellowship Chicago, Golden Apple Scholar and Teacher of Distinction, and Multicultural Leadership Academy Fellow.
He enjoys traveling and living alongside his wife, Laura, and three beautiful children.
