Dr. Cynthia Hernandez is Coordinator of Elementary Curriculum & Instruction and Library Media Services in Corpus Christi ISD. She has a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in K–12th grade reading and an Educational Administration certification.
Dr. Hernandez was a cohort member of the University of Texas Superintendency Fellowship program, where she earned her Doctorate degree in Educational Administration. Dr. Hernandez has served as a campus and central office administrator in both urban and suburban school districts. She worked at Region 12 and Region 7 Education Service Centers in the offices of Bilingual and ESL Instruction and Title I Services and Compliance. In addition, Dr. Hernandez worked at the Texas Education Agency under the direction of the Associate Commissioner of Education. She was the Director for Educational Outreach for the Center for Astrophysics, Space Physics, and Engineering Research at Baylor University, as well as, the Director of Institutional Research at Tyler Junior College.
Dr. Hernandez has done extensive work researching and implementing best practices aimed at increasing literacy proficiency among all students. Having joined the curriculum and instruction department in Corpus Christi ISD, she has fully committed herself to eradicating illiteracy in the city.
