‘True Data’ Offers Visibility Into Student Progress
Challenge: Timely visibility into student performance for informed decision-making and early identification of struggling students.
Solution: Lexia Core5 Reading
“The No. 1 thing is ‘students first.’ They’re our future tomorrow.” Sal Flores, director-dyslexia/504/RTI services, has lived and breathed this mantra at McAllen Independent School District in Texas for the last five years. With more than 1,700 students identified with dyslexia in the district, Flores relies on Lexia® Core5® Reading for its research-proven impact on student achievement and its real-time data for educator decision-making.
‘Incredible Program’ Offers True Data
“My teachers fell in love with Core5 because, for the first time, they were able to see what they call ‘true data,’” Flores says. Core5 provides educators with real-time progress data, showing exactly where students are excelling and where they might need extra support.
The benefits of this real-time data extend beyond teachers. “I track the progress of all my EBs, my special education students, the GT students, my general ed. I look at the entire data,” Flores says.
For Flores and district educators, this data is important for making informed decisions and tailoring instruction to meet each student's needs.
Securing Administrator Buy-In
Flores’ strategy for success includes involving administrators from the beginning. “I brought the administrators in at the beginning of the year and gave them a username and password, so they were able to see the data,” he says.
The tangible results speak volumes: “The data tells us what we’re doing is making a difference.”
