The 5-Minute Check-In: Tools to Accelerating Literacy in Arizona
Targeted action plans can lead to better student outcomes. The daily 5-minute Check-In found in myLexia®, as part of Lexia® Core5® Reading, provides educators with a daily blueprint to identify students in need of additional support, as well as which students are ready to apply skills learned, and who is ready to celebrate their successes.
This checklist, when coupled with regular use of Core5, allows students to grow their reading skills at their own learning pace while providing educators with the information necessary to develop targeted instruction. Core5 is an Adaptive Blended Learning program that accelerates the development of literacy skills for Arizona students of all abilities.
Core 5 is correlated to Arizona’s ELA standards and supports all MTSS and RtI frameworks. By placing the teacher at the center of instruction and implementation, Core5 provides a learning model for student literacy success. This research-proven solution provides real-time actionable data to help school administrators create long-term, lasting literacy gains.
“As a result of Core5 helping to identify and address students’ foundational literacy skills gaps, we were able to triple the number of students working in or above grade level in Core5 within one year,” interventionist Dayna Shanahan said.
