SB 1572 - Early Literacy in Arizona
Arizona SB 1572 requires students receive an assessment in kindergarten entry for dyslexia characteristics. Approximately 325,000 Arizona students have dyslexia or a reading-related disability, according to the NIH. Screening at this age is important for literacy development and advancement. The bill also requires professional development for teachers in reading instruction.
