Oregon Educators Adopt Evidence-Supported Strategies to Accelerate Learning
Tasked with increasing early literacy, district leader, school leader, and teacher visibility into timely student performance data can inform decision-making and identify students who need a little extra support.
Oregon school administrators focused on closing equity gaps for all students are adopting solutions that are research-aligned, culturally responsive, and student-centered to comply with the state’s new literacy initiative and support both educators and students. Lexia® Core5® Reading meets the curriculum requirements of Oregon’s Early Literacy Framework:
Rigorous content
- Quality text selections and genres
- Growth of comprehension
- Repeated exposure and application to complex text
- Flexibility and easy to implement
- Rich academic vocabulary
- A foundation built from research
With its evidence-based, differentiated instruction, educators across Oregon are using Core5 to monitor and improve student literacy skills for all students—without adding more work to teachers’ already full plates. Shodie Akin, a teacher at La Pine Elementary School said, “I have used Lexia® in the classroom the last two years. My students are working on their unit goals each week. It's easy for them to track. I like that I can see what they are working on and offer them support when needed. The resources are amazing.”
Lexia Core5 Reading supports Oregon educators in helping all students learn to read. During the 2022–2023 school year, 83% of students who met usage advanced at least one grade level of material.
