Ohio Admins Close the Reading Gap

With 676,668 pre-K–5 students statewide, educators face diverse challenges, including serving 4.3% English language Learners, 16.4% students with disabilities, and 50.4% classified as economically disadvantaged. This approach delivers powerful results. During the 2022–2023 school year, the proportion of students working at or above grade level more than doubled, rising from 44% to 89%. Principals and teachers alike praise its impact, noting how it centralizes resources and streamlines intervention. “It has completely shifted how teachers spend their time … It’s been a game changer for us,” said Lander Elementary School Principal Felecia Evans.
