Make the Most of Funding With Lexia

The Pennsylvania Department of Education’s 2024–2025 Ready to Learn Block Grant provides districts with a vital opportunity to sustain and enhance literacy instruction as ESSER funds expire. With the upcoming implementation of Senate Bill 801, which emphasizes evidence-based reading curricula and Structured Literacy practices, districts must invest in programs that meet these new standards.

The Lexia® suite of curriculum and professional learning products—including Lexia® Core5® Reading, Lexia® PowerUp Literacy®, Lexia English Language Development™, Lexia® LETRS®, and Lexia Aspire® Professional Learning—are all approved uses of the Ready to Learn Block Grant. These programs are specifically designed to accelerate literacy learning, addressing Pennsylvania's pressing need for improved reading outcomes.

Grant alignment highlights:

• Professional Learning in Structured Literacy: Supports high-quality continuing professional education in literacy-specific curriculum and instructional strategies (Section h).
• Evidence-Based Reading Instruction: Enables the implementation of evidence-based reading instruction and literacy programs, including the use of literacy coaches and specialists to improve student outcomes (Section f).
• Early Childhood Education: Funds programs like Lexia® LETRS® for Early Childhood Educators, establishing and maintaining prekindergarten programs aligned with state academic standards (Section a).
• Literacy Coaching Programs: Allocates resources for establishing, maintaining, or expanding literacy coaching within schools (Section i).
• Tutoring Assistance: Provides for tutoring during the school day, supplementing regular instruction without interfering with IEP services (Section e).

By investing in the Lexia suite of products, district leaders can ensure their educators are equipped to meet state mandates and improve literacy outcomes, providing critical support for students across Pennsylvania.
