Literacy Score Increases, Year After Year
See how one district bridged the literacy opportunity gap with Lexia® Core5® Reading.
District administrators in North Carolina continue to face the ongoing challenge of addressing the widening literacy opportunity gap. This challenge is often made more difficult by a lack of classroom resources that can close skill gaps among students with diverse needs.
With North Carolina’s rigorous evaluation system, it's crucial to implement effective solutions that drive measurable success. Enter Core5, a proven program that offers educators and administrators the resources and reports they need to help students excel.
Jason Griffin, executive director of elementary and federal programs for Craven County School District, highlights the importance of purposeful implementation with Core5 for best results. “We have been very intentional with Core5 and our professional development,” he said.
PLUS: Core5 Complements LETRS
“All the work we’ve done with [Lexia®] LETRS® also ties in with Core5. We had Core5 first, and when we added LETRS, it was like lightbulbs went off. Teachers see all the connections,” Griffin said.
Craven County’s focused implementation of Core5 has led to significant literacy gains. "A report came out recently from the state department showing that Craven County has returned back to pre-COVID numbers," Griffin noted.
Demonstrated Success, Year after Year
“We have seen increases in our end-of-grade scores, consecutively, for five years,” Griffin concluded.
With 92% of students who met Core5 usage targets reading at or above grade level, Craven County's success can be replicated in your district. Empower your educators with Core5 and see what a difference it can make.
