Lexia Core5 Reading: Florida Self-Guided Tour

Lexia® Core5® Reading helps Florida educators provide differentiated literacy instruction for students of all abilities in grades pre-K–5. Aligned to the Florida B.E.S.T. Standards, this adaptive, online program targets student skill gaps by delivering personalized learning in the six areas of reading instruction: phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, structural analysis, automaticity/fluency, and comprehension.

Core5’s three-step Adaptive Blended Learning model offers all students a systematic and structured approach by creating a personalized learning path through three steps:

• Standard: Students apply the skill or concept independently with minimal support. They must demonstrate at least 90% accuracy to advance to subsequent units.
  
  
• Guided Practice: This is a scaffolded version of the Standard step that removes the level of complexity by simplifying the task or embedding support to help the student.
  
  
• Instruction: Students are presented explicit instruction on a skill or content they are struggling with. They are then asked to apply the rule or skill by completing a simplified version of the task.
  
  

With explicit instruction provided only when needed, Core5 allows students to move efficiently through units and on to more advanced skills as appropriate. When they complete activities, reward animations appear and certificates are available to celebrate success.
