Lexia® PowerUp Literacy® and New Jersey Learning Acceleration

The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) Learning Acceleration Guide is, “an ongoing instructional process by which educators engage in formative practices to improve all students’ access to grade-level standards while strategically building in key concepts from the prior grade level students need to master grade-level work.” It consists of four principles:

• Principle 1: Provide conditions for teaching and learning that will foster social and emotional well-being of students, families, and educators 
• Principle 2: Improve equitable access to grade-level content and high-quality resources for each student 
• Principle 3: Prioritize content and learning by focusing on the depth of instructions, rather than the pace 
• Principle 4: Implement a K–12 accelerated learning cycle to identify gaps and scaffold as needed

This document provides an overview of how Lexia® PowerUp Literacy® is uniquely suited to support the NJDOE Learning Acceleration Guide by providing the state’s struggling adolescent readers with an engaging, individualized tool to unlock academic potential. PowerUp accelerates literacy gains for students in grades 6–12 who are at risk of not meeting College- and Career-Ready Standards.
