Lexia PowerUp Literacy and FAST aReading
This report conducted by Lexia® Research and Analytics highlights analyses of a sample of 1,093 students in grades 6–8 who used Lexia® PowerUp Literacy® for at least 10 weeks and had available FAST™ aReading testing data.
PowerUp accelerates literacy gains for struggling 6–12 students at risk of not meeting College- and Career-Ready Standards. The FastBridge Learning FAST Adaptive Reading assessment (FAST aReading) is a screening and progress-monitoring tool for K–12 students that measures decoding, word-identification skills, and reading comprehension.
Examination of the qualifying students at two schools in a mid-size U.S. district found:
- 90% of students who completed PowerUp were proficient on the spring FAST aReading assessment.
- Struggling readers who finished the year in advanced content or completed PowerUp were three times more likely to be proficient on the spring FAST aReading assessment.
- There was a strong, positive correlation between where students ended the year in PowerUp and their spring FAST aReading scores. A program’s level of validity depends upon how effectively it measures what it claims to.
In this case, the results speak for themselves. PowerUp propels 6–12 students to become successful readers. Download the report to learn more.
