Lexia® Core5® Reading Efficacy Research

Lexia® Core5® Reading is a program designed to accelerate the development of fundamental literacy skills for students of all abilities in preschool through fifth grade. Core5 offers explicit, systematic instruction through personalized learning paths in six areas of reading. As a blended learning program, Core5 integrates online activities with teacher-directed, offline materials targeted to the needs of individual students.

Lexia® is dedicated to conducting rigorous scientific research to demonstrate the efficacy of its programs. This document summarizes more than 50 research studies spanning more than 15 years that constitute the evidence base for Core5. Included are early studies on precursors to Core5—such as Lexia Early Reading and Lexia Primary Reading—together with more recent empirical studies on Core5. Twenty of the studies on Core5 are peer-reviewed publications. Five of these published studies meet the highest standards of Strong evidence for an educational intervention described by the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

The studies summarized in this report provide robust and diverse evidence that Core5 can be used to accelerate the development of fundamental literacy skills for students of all abilities in preschool through fifth grade.
