Administrators, listen to the podcast, Transforming Teacher Knowledge Through Literacy Professional Learning.
As a lifelong educator and literacy champion, Curriculum Director Kristen Jones of Enid Public Schools in Oklahoma realized teachers in her district had not received proper literacy training. If and when such professional development was made available, it was inconsistent and not accessible to all educators.
Building a consensus and getting administrators and educators excited about the training was key. Being intentional and strategic about the rollout helped to get buy-in from as many of the stakeholders as possible, was how Jones’s district was able to minimize pushback.
The vocabulary around reading instruction hasn’t just seeped into administrator and educator conversations. It has also become a part of the students’ discussions about reading and spelling.
In this engaging podcast, Jones discusses how her district implemented Lexia® LETRS®, the challenges encountered along the way, how teacher trust in the program was built, and much more. If your school or district is struggling to find an evidence-based professional learning program, you won't want to miss her insight.
