Lexia Programs

All

Version

All

Platforms Affected Mac OS X
Description

Errors occur when launching any Lexia product on a Mac OS X system that is running Norton Anti-Virus. These errors indicate permissions are not properly set even when they are and could prevent Lexia products from running on the machine.

Some examples of these errors are:

The following folder must have ‘read/write/create/modify’ permissions for this computer: [directory path to LLSCommon\Records]

Insufficient read/write/delete privileges in records location (Failure string: failedDeleteFile)

The program cannot continue because this computer does not have appropriate permissions.

  • Make sure that Lexia products are running Admin 1.20 or higher.

When Lexia programs are launched, the Admin version is displayed in the lower left corner of the splash screen. Users that have Admin 1.1 should download an update from the Lexia website and install the update on every machine that has the Lexia programs installed.

  • Exclude the LLSCommon directory from the “Safe Zone. In Norton Anti-Virus”

Other than turning Norton Anti-Virus Auto-Protect off, the user can exclude the LLSCommon folder in the Lexia Learning Systems directory an “Safe Zone” which will allow the Lexia program to write to that directory without interference from Auto-Protect.Please see the Symantec Support site for information on excluding directories from the Safe Zone. The title of the document that describes this process is: “ Problems occur when you save files with Auto-Protect on ” and can be found at the link below.
